How To Tuesdays: All Matte Everything

As much as I love glossy and shimmery makeup and nails, I love the matte look.

For nails, this trend is about 2 years old, but I still love it. I own 2 Matte Colors by Orly in "Retro Red" and "Couture Purple Velvet". What is even better is that you don't have to be limited to the few specific matte colors because there are Mattifying top coats offered by China Glaze, OPI, and Orly that will turn your ordinary glossy lacquers into a velvet/satin like flat finish.

When it comes to matte lips, this is more of a classic look but it continuously appears on runways. This spring it made another comeback in Corals, Oranges, Reds, and Pinks.

There is a different technique that you have to use to achieve a Matte Lip unlike glossy lips. For starters you have to use flat colors that come in a Matte finish. Avoid shimmery, glossy, and light reflecting lipsticks.

Start with an ex-foliated, moisturized lip.
Blot away the excess moisture on your lips.
If you are using a lip liner, line your lips as neat as possible.
Apply your lipstick then use a tissue to blot away the excess
Repeat the lipstick application and blotting until you reach your desired color.

Here are some pictures of my Matte Lips. (From Left to Right: MAC So Chaud, Wet n Wild Plum, and MAC Taupe)
So for this spring and summer don't be afraid to rock this bold look. Enjoy!
